Who am I? What do I know?

Kim Grant

— Lonely Planet author, contributor and coordinating author of more than 20 guides (first editions and updates: Boston, New England, Miami/Keys, Florida, Santa Fe/ABQ, Southwest, Hawaii).
— Author of dozens more guidebooks for Frommer’s, Fodor’s, Eyewitness, Berlitz, Countryman Press, so I know what works/doesn’t.
— Successfully made a case for in-house photography for LP city guides, resulting in shooting the first and second 4-color editions of any LP city guide: San Francisco and New York City. That pitch and those guides served as the basis for Lonely Planet Images, for which I was a founding member. Currently a Getty Images contributor.
Acquisitions Editor for a travel guide publisher (Countryman Press): single-handedly analyzed markets and hired 150 authors over 18 months.
Chief Content Officer for world’s best and biggest mobile travel app company (Sutro Media): single-handedly vet, onboard and manage 600 authors (scaling from 10 authors within 3 years) and bring to fruition more than 450 travel guides.
— Vet and manage more than 500 A-lister travel journalists to attend TravMedia‘s annual conference (IMM); one of three organizers of the 1000-person event. (I’m probably professionally/personally connected to more travel content producers than any other person on the planet.)
Media Liaison & Engagement Specialist (TravMedia) between DMOs and media: to maximize reach for DMO’s marketing efforts.
— Motivate 150 authors (Bindu) to use the platform to showcase their work.
