Located in Grant Park and next door to Cyclorama, Zoo Atlanta, is one of the 10 oldest zoos in continuous operation in the United States.
Founded in 1889, the Zoo is one of only four zoos in the United States to feature Giant Pandas. Lun Lun and Yang Yang have produced six off-spring, including two sets of twins. The youngest of set of twins, Ya Lun and Xi Lun still live share space here and are often hanging out in the day room.
Zoo Atlanta features more than 250 species of animals from all over the world, housed in environments that mimic their natural habitats. Other rare animals include high-climbing orangutans, Sumatran tigers, black rhinos, African elephants, Komodo monitors, big-mouthed African dwarf crocodiles, a Japanese giant salamander, and western lowland gorillas. Oh, and don’t forget the snakes and vipers!
Ask for a copy of the feeding schedule at the gate. Stroller are available for rent, including doubles. Wheelchairs are available for free.
