It’s a dog in case you were wondering. Nonchalantly urinating against a street bollard, he completes the rather unholy trinity of things peeing in Brussels. ‘Zinneke’ is taken from the mongrel dogs found around the Senne river (Zinne in Brussels dialect) in days of old and has come to embody the spirit of Brussels – a being of mixed origin but still part of the city. It was hit by a car (oh, Brussels!) in 2015 but has since been restored, much to everyone’s relief.
