Chicago is home to one of the oldest, strictly stand-up comedy venues in the nation. Since 1978, Zanies has been bringing in top names as well as playing a pivotal role in launching locals of laughter into the marquees. Nearly every inch of the wall is adorned with signed, framed headshots of those who have graced the basement-like atmosphere of this street-level club (it’s fitting to drop names here): Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson, Chelsea Handler, Dave Chapell, and Chicago’s own Hannibal Burress. There is a 2 item minimum which can be a combination of food, alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. Two shows on Friday, three on Saturday, one during the week and Sunday. Enjoy the staple of stand-up and treat your servers well (I used to be one of them).
There are satellite venues in Naperville, Rosemont, St. Charles, and straight down highway 65 in Nashville.
