Terry and Peggy Clanton at World’s Fair Donuts are some of the hardest-working people you’ll ever meet – opening their donut store each morning at 4 AM seven days a week about 360 days a year.
But their loyal customers don’t begrudge them a holiday or two.
Using a recipe his father perfected, Terry Clanton has been making donuts all of his life, hand-cutting and hand-dipping the glaze just like his parents did.
The glazed and cake donuts are the best sellers, but if you get bored with that, the fried pies, brownies and at least 50 kinds of pastries keep the crowds coming from all over the two state area.
World’s Fair Donuts been voted the best donuts in St. Louis so many times, there’s no room for anymore awards on the wall of this tiny little un-air-conditioned building.
