The World Athlete’s Monument is the distinctive statue that marks the area where West Peachtree Street joins Peachtree Street in Midtown at a small park called Pershing Point. The 43 foot tall statue showing five bronze figures of Atlas hoisting a world above their heads sits atop a limestone pedestal was designed by Anton Glikine of Russia
It was a gift to the City of Atlanta from Prince Charles of Great Britain commemorating the 1996 Olympic Games. Pershing Point was named for World War I General John J. Pershing and is just one block south of Rhodes Hall.
