For over 140 years and through four generations, the Galliker family have put their heart and soul into running this famous bastion of Lucerne-style comfort food, where dishes such as chögalipaschtetli (a large vol-au-vent stuffed wiyh veal in a mushroom sauce) are savored by down-to-earth denizens of Lucerne and visitors wanting to experience the best in local traditional cuisine.
Portions are generous and generally meaty, service is warm and welcoming and the decor reassuringly old-fashioned (think plenty of wood-paneling and chintz curtains). Reservations advised.
