Stunning views and world-class wine at Willowcroft Farms Vineyards.
In a state where modern wines have only been produced since the mid 1970’s, Willowcroft is a grande dame in Virginia wine, where owner/winemaker Lew Parker has been creating award-winning wines since the early â80s.
Even more impressive is the venue: the winery is housed in a pre-Civil War horse barn, where stall doors line the walkway to the rustic tasting room. About a dozen people can belly up to the wood bar in the romantic room and try out seven wines for the $5 tasting fee.
Interesting wines include the increasingly popular Albarino, a Cabernet Blanc, a Petit Verdot, and the Riesling Muscat-Ottonel.On the grounds, picnic tables are positioned to take in the distant Blue Ridge views.
Home winemaking classes are offered here a couple of times a year, if you find yourself inspired.
