The crown jewel of the west shore, Waimea Canyon stretches for 14 miles long and a mile wide. The red and green canyon’s color forces drivers to stop and stare at the brilliance of Kaua’i’s nature. The Waimea Canyon Lookout is by far the most popular (with the best views of Waipo’o Falls). Pu’u Hinahina Lookout also offers views if Ni’ihau in the distance.
Active types can hike to the majestic Waipo’o Falls, or along the canyon trail. Pick up a trail map at the Museum Store in Koke’e State Park before heading deep into the 3600 foot canyon.
