A visit to Vermont’s Teddy Bear Factory is a popular trip for families – especially those with kids who would just love to be able to make their own furry friend. The factory runs 30-minute tours every half hour throughout the day. On summer weekends these tours do fill up, so you might end up having to wait for the next available slot.
The company began with the founder selling bears from a push cart on Church Street 35 years ago. Now they offer a huge variety of bears, from presidential bears to a “50 Shades of Grey” bear. They also have custom-made bears and their popular ‘Bear-Gram’ option for sending bears as presents.
The most popular part of the tour is the opportunity for kids (and bear-loving adults) to design their own bear with the factory’s “Make a Friend for Life” program. Visitors get to choose the basic design/color of their bear, and then walk through the process of choosing the stuffing, having it sewn up and brushed, and filling out a birth certificate.
