The Verde Canyon Railroad takes passengers on a narrated journey through the Verde Canyon. Passengers board at the depot in Clarkdale for the 4-hour journey, settling into their seats in either first class or coach.
If you’re feeling saucy, rent out the whole caboose ($700) for up to five of your friends. Or, treat yourself to a “locomotive-ride-along” seated between the engineer and conductor ($350).
Regardless of where you sit, be sure to make your way to the open air cars to watch for ancient ruins, the homes of early settlers and wildlife. You may even see a bald eagle or two.
