As much a funky, eclectic art museum as it is a great place to hear live music six nights a week, the Venice Cafe is a classic Soulard spot to explore the nighttime.
Monday night is open mic night. Tuesday features a local bluegrass band called The Cheap Date Knights.
A cover charge kicks in for Wednesday through Saturday.
Come in the summer when the menu turns Caribbean with jerked chicken and such.
While looking around at the mosaics and the beautiful courtyard, all created by local artists, pay homage to the James Crutchfield Wall of Honor. He played here regularly up until his death in 2001.
