The United States Air Force Academy is the second most popular tourist attraction in the state, for good reasons. Our favorites there are the Cadet Lunch Formation and the architecturally stunning chapel.
Start in the Visitor Center and watch the 14-minute film about Academy life, the pick up a map and take a self-guided tour.
You may visit the Cadet Chapel (worth the trip itself), the Honor Court, Arnold Hall, the Cadet Field House, Falcon Athletic Center, Falcon Stadium, the Association of Graduates building and the Visitor Center, which is open 9am-5pm.
This video shows that the inside of the Cadet Chapel is as stunning as the views visitors see through the windows.
This is a military installation as well as a university, so confirm it’s open the day you want to visit. Check the website for more details about a visit and confirm the days of the cadet lunch formation. (Usually Monday and Friday.)
Visitors enter through the North Gate, which is exit 156B on Interstate 25, about 14 miles north of downtown Colorado Springs.
