The chance to see a roomful of gold bullion and the minting process that produces coins makes a tour of the Denver U.S. Mint one of the most popular attractions in the Mile High City. The Denver Mint was established in 1863.  Here in Denver pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollar and dollar coins are minted, as well as some coin sets for collectors.

The tour includes some fascinating history from 1858, when gold was discovered in Colorado, and artifacts used in mints to make coins through the years. Plus, an up-close views of the coin making process.

Advance tickets and reservations are not available.  The policy is same day tickets only, and sometimes the line starts forming at 6AM. Visit the Denver Mint website and read all of the details carefully. Especially note what you are allowed to bring during the tour because there are no lockers where you can leave large and other objects.
