The International Booksellers Federation considers Titcomb’s Book Shop one of the 50 unique bookshops in the world, and for good reason. The Titcomb family has been in the book biz since 1969 and their passion for books of all kinds enlivens every inch of this three-story barn-shop. Hundreds of yards of handmade shelves hold more than 30,000 new, used, and rare titles, spanning all ages and every imaginable category. They also offer toys, puzzles, games, cards, and other items of interest.
They’re generous with personal attention and they know when to leave you the heck alone. You’ll know you’re there when you see the iconic, life-sized, wrought-iron statue of a man in colonial garb, frozen in mid-stride, hugging his latest literary acquisition. The works of local hero Thornton W. Burgess, from whose imagination sprang Peter Cottontail and other forest friends, are well represented. Events include signings, book club meetings, and more.
