The temple of Tirta Gangga is located on the site of a natural spring which was incorporated into a water palace built by the Raja of Karangasem in 1948. Stone carvings, statues, stepping stones, water features and an arched footbridge are artistically laid out among lush gardens and giant, koi filled pools. Dominated by an eleven tiered fountain, the one hectare complex was almost completely destroyed by the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963 but has been rebuilt and restored to its former majesty.
It is a beautifully setting in which to wander and take photos, plus there is a pool where visitors can swim.
