This place serves one dish and only one dish, and their dining room en plein air gets packed almost every night. The cooks stand over huge woks at the front, fire incessantly lapping at their forearms, to fry up what some say is the best pad Thai in town.
Thipsamai has been here since 1966, so they’ve got their recipe down to a science. They make Pad Thai, Pad Thai Haw Kai (in an omelette), and Pad Thai Piset (with fresh shrimp). The frozen coconut juice or fresh orange juice are both good accompaniments.
Address: 313 Mahachai Road, across from Mahannop Road, near Wat Saket: look for fiery woks, hordes of people, and their large red sign in Thai
