In the midst of all the coastal ruggedness on the Long Beach Peninsula, you’ll find a lovely Victorian inn. The ShelburnenInn Bed and Breakfast near Long Beach, Washington is a true American classic boutique hotel. The inn is over 120 years old. It is the oldest, continuously operating hotel in Washington State.
Located in Seaview, just east of the Pacific Ocean on the Long Beach Peninsula, the inn has a timeless appeal. It was originally established in 1896 as a retreat for visitors from Portland, Oregon, and has operated continuously since that time.
The Shelburne Inn has a pub and restaurant open to the public. You’ll enjoy the farm-to-table cuisine and special event dinners. My favorite is dining there during mushroom season in the fall. David Campiche, co-owner, forages in the woods for the mushrooms that are served to the guests.
The 15 rooms are filled with vintage memorabilia and antiques, many from England. Add in the collection of stained glass windows and the owners’ art and you have an intriguing place to stay. There are patio rooms that open out to the flower-filled grounds and rooms up the narrow stairs. Try an attic room during a rainstorm… cozy.
