Having a drink in a sky bar has to be one of the top attractions in Bangkok. The views of the city are dazzling, and it’s a great way to relax, beat the heat, and escape the traffic, noise, and congestion below. The Moon Bar is probably the top pick of the litter, for several reasons. Sitting on the 68th floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel, the rooftop bar is completely open air, and gives unblocked full 360 degree panoramas of Bangkok from all sides. There are no windows or blocking glass partitions here like in other bars, and the bar is very friendly to photographers, as there is even room to set up tripods.
Drinks are not cheap here, with cocktails running around 400 baht, but they are well mixed, and do come with a bowl of nuts to snack on, and it’s well worth the price of admission to come up here for sunset, a purely magical experience, with the sun going down to the west behind the golden dome of the Lebua State Tower in the distance.
Do note that there is a dress code here. No shorts, singlets, or sandals are allowed, and no open toed shoes for men.
