Thailand Creative & Design Center has become a vital cultural center in the city. There are permanent and changing exhibitions here, like the traveling Essential Eames show or another on the bamboo craft tradition in Beppu, Japan.
There is a resource center with thousands of books, magazines and other materials on art and design, many of them in English. It’s a comfortable room with natural light. There are not that many libraries in Bangkok, so students and professors come here to work. TCDC also runs a lecture series and invites designers, architects, and curators from around the world to talk about different aspects of the field.
The café has free WiFi and on weekends on the little black stage are concerts and film screenings. The gift shop has original but somewhat expensive crafts by local independent designers and artisans, like hand-sewn wallets and thickly embroidered pillows.
