For those who don’t want to go to the extremely cheesy, over-touristed, and ripoff Damnoen Saduak floating market, nor have the time to get to any of the other floating markets around Bangkok, Talat Nam Pheung is a great option. The market is only held on weekends, and doesn’t see many foreign tourists, although it is very popular with Thais. It isn’t a floating market proper, as a majority of the stalls are on land, but they do have boats set up on the small canal, where visitors can sit down over papaya salad and grilled chicken and watch the world go by. Additionally, there are some great local Thai desserts and sweets for sale, as well as plenty of home crafted souvenirs available, ranging from coconut soap to various fruit and herbal juices, kitchen knick knacks, and handmade ceramic pieces. The market makes for a great finish on any tour around the open green space of Bang Krachao.
