It took 100 days to build the Tabor Opera House in 1879. It was the most opulent building of its time in Colorado, if not in the entire territory west of the Mississippi. Operas are still performed here on a regular schedule. Check their web site for schedules and prices.

If you want to learn about the harsh life silver miners experienced spend some time in Leadville, one of the highest towns in the nation.
