The variety of hiking and mountain biking opportunities in Summit County is almost endless. You can stroll through a meadow or summit a 14,000 foot-high mountain. You can find paved bike paths and singletrack.

The Outdoor Recreation Information Center Colorado lists many trails in Summit County. Once you’re on the website, click on one of the trails on the map and it will lead you to details about that trail.

The Summit County Daily has an excellent article – Hiking 101 – that covers links to maps and trails, and other essential information people should know before hiking in this region.

Please remember you may not be familiar with the high altitude, weather can change quickly and sun screen and extra water are a must. Here are some high-altitude tips. It’s always a good idea to let someone (not with you) know where you’re heading and to check in with them when you return.
