Statue of Everard ‘t Serclaes

That's lucky

Everard was a citizen of Brussels and an alderman. He was killed retaking Brussels from Flemish invaders in the 14th century. During the reconstruction of the Maison de l’Etoile, a statue to his memory was commissioned.  It is said that the statue brings luck and grants wishes to all who touch it, which is why there is always a queue of people to do so. There are many ‘rules’ to this superstition but suffice to say if you touch it and make a wish, that should be enough.
