Sunny St. Mary Campground in Glacier National Park garners big views of Divide and Red Eagle Mountains. From this locale, it anchors the east entrance to Going-to-the-Sun Road.

St. Mary Campground, with more than 140 campsites, opens year round, but goes to primitive status without running water late September to
early April. No hookups are available for RVs.

It is one of three campgrounds in the park that permits reservations. You can book reservations six months in advance for June through early September stays. If you don’t have reservations, you may be able to nab a campsite from cancellations.

From a campground, a half-mile trail crosses a bridge over St. Mary River to reach St. Mary Visitor Center. The visitor center hosts educational, naturalist and Native American interpretive programs.

From the visitor center, campers can catch a shuttle that runs to Logan Pass. The shuttle also with stops at trailheads on Going-to-the-Sun Road. To go further to the town of St. Mary, take the walking path to reach restaurants, gift shops, gas and grocery stores.
