European village in Santa Barbara wine country

Danish settlers founded this town in 1911 and built homes and businesses that reminded them of their native land.

A century later, Solvang still reflects its Danish origins but has also morphed into a thoroughly modern wine country hub.

Park your car in one of the free public lots and stop at the Solvang Visitors Center to get info on the town and the surrounding Santa Ynez Valley.

Then stroll through the super-walkable town. It’s filled with unusual shops, restaurants and more than 20 wine tasting rooms. Don’t forget to take home a box of Danish pastries.
