Having opened in 1980, Sneakers bistro is one of the older continually operating restaurants in the area, and a Winooski mainstay. With a casual vibe and a friendly atmosphere, it’s a great way to start off your weekend day. Their brunches are extremely popular – waits can be an hour or two on weekends — so make sure to factor in the extra time. They did recently start using an mobile app that allows you to get on the wait list from home and show up shortly before your table is ready. Or you can head next store to the Monkey House for a bloody mary while you wait.
For breakfast try the French toast, dipped in Kahlua batter and made with homemade Challah bread (they also bake sourdough and whole wheat bread daily, along with English muffins). Or try one of several eggs Benedict dishes – Sneakers is known for having the best Hollandaise sauce around. A trip to Sneakers is also a good opportunity to explore Winooski – head down to the Winooski falls, or take a stroll along the boardwalk next to converted mill buildings.
