Senado Square, the administrative and commercial center of Macau for centuries, is an attractive plaza paved with a wavy pattern of black and white tiles and lined with pastel-colored, neoclassical buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries. With a fountain at its center, it’s lively with families, tourists, and residents on their way to or from work. There’s a Macau Government Tourist Office here, open daily 9am to 8pm, useful if you need to pick up maps or brochures or use its restroom. This is the best starting point for a scenic walk to the Ruins of St. Paul’s and other historic attractions that make up the Historic Centre of Macao.
