Tucked away, off Sedona’s main thoroughfares, is Boynton Canyon in the Red Rock Secret Wilderness of Coconino National Forest. Home of the Enchantment Resort, several unique red rock formations, including the Kachina Woman, and one of the area’s four vortexes, Boynton Canyon makes for a beautiful outdoor adventure. To get there, take Dry Creek Road north off of 89A west. At the first fork, take a left (a right will lead you towards Devils Bridge); at the second fork, take a right to the parking lot just shy of the resort. On foot, head for the Boynton Canyon Trail; staying left, follow it to the Vista Trail. At Vista Trail stay right and head uphill, following the wire baskets full of red rocks, called cairns (they mark the trail). When you’ve reached the 30-foot high red knoll, you’ve made it. Energy is said to be quite high at this point.
