The Screamin’ Gator Zip Line Adventure at Gatorland has 5 zip lines totaling 1,200 feet where speeds reach up to 30 mph. The zip lines connect to a series of 7-story tall towers with multilevel launch pads. The tower and a swinging bridge suspended above the park’s main walkway offer some spectacular views.
However, you probably won’t pay much attention to the scenic views while zipping. Instead, you’ll want to concentrate on what’s passing beneath you: Gatorland’s famous reptiles. You begin by passing over Cuban and Nile crocodiles. Then it’s up and over the Alligator Breeding Marsh, containing 130 giant alligators that will be watching you from below. That last stretch of cable jokingly is known as “The Widow Maker.”
Screamin’ Gator Zip Line riders must be at least 37″ tall, weigh no more than 275 lbs and be able to fit safely into the zip line harnesses. Including the safety briefing and orientation session, the experience takes about 2 hours.
Liability waiver required and no cameras including cell phones and GoPros allowed while you’re zipping. Everyone must wear closed toe shoes. Be sure to read all the requirements and restrictions carefully. The price of the Zip Line includes admission to the park.
