Sauchiehall Street and the Willow Tea Rooms

Glasgow's most famous street

Though the city’s best-known street, Sauchiehall Street (pronounced: Sockie-hall) is mostly just a line of chain stores. But there’s a nice buzz about the pedestrianized zone all the same.

Its one really Glasgow-specific sight is the Willow Tea Rooms (Mon–Sat 9.30am-4.30pm, some Sundays) above a jeweller at #217. The interiors – right down to the cutlery and menus – are all the elegant work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
