Home to His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni and his mother Her Majesty Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. A complex of golden domed buildings, the palace, was built in 1866 on the site of the old town.

Visitors are able to tour the Throne Hall situated to the left of the main entrance. It features a 59-meter tower decoratively tiered with golden colored tiles. This building is used for high official celebrations, coronations and audiences with foreign dignitaries.

The floor of the throne room itself comprises 500 solid silver blocks weighing nearly six tonnes. North of the Royal Treasury and Napoleon II villa stands the silver pagoda (Pagoda of the Emerald Buddha). The 17th century emerald Buddha statue is made of Baccarat crystal and solid gold.  It weighs 90 kilograms and is adorned with 9,584 diamonds.
