Despite the serene view of the park pavilion across the street, a hectic scene unfolds each day in this old colonial shop. There’s nonstop roti rolling at the front entry and continual curry slurping throughout. Customers must stand at the front and politely but firmly demand a table, then wait. When the employees aren’t fielding the regular flow of orders, or making mataba, they’re good-naturedly slapping each other. The roti is some of the best in town and the massaman curry is smooth and just a little spicy.
