People who grew up in New Orleans know the joy of seeing the Roman Candy Man rolling down their street. The Cortese family has been making their special taffy for four generations now. The mule-drawn cart with its bell began rolling through the streets in 1915. Inside it you can watch the driver twisting and pulling the candy, which comes in sticks of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Of course now you can buy it online, but nothing compares to that old thrill of seeing it just outside your door.
