Rockridge Market Hall

Artisanal groceries, bakery bites, and coffee all under one big roof

If you’re ambling along College Ave. or stepping off a BART train at Rockridge station, detour inside this combination bakery, cheese store, seafood and meat counter, and imported grocery shop. On the shelves you can find artisanal foodstuffs produced all over California. How about some olive oil from Paso Robles or Napa Valley as a souvenir to take home? Or Cowgirl Creamery cheese from Marin County, Acme Bread from Berkeley and strawberries from Santa Cruz for an impromptu picnic?

For a pick-me-up, order a coffee or espresso drink from local roaster Highwire, which has a bar at the front entrance. If you’re hungry for something hot and cooked, make your way to the back of the market hall, where Hapuku Fish Shop makes sandwiches and fish-and-chips to order between noon and 6pm on weekdays (until 5 p.m. on weekends).

Directions: Walk one block south from the Rockridge BART station. For more Transportation details see Oakland and Around (in the yellow bar).
