The City Market in Roanoke’s downtown Market Square is one of the oldest continuous farmer’s markets in the country. A variety of street vendors line the sidewalks—merchandise varies seasonally— and the square is filled with specialty shops offering everything from outdoor gear to chocolate Roanoke “stars”. The Center in the Square houses regional museums of science, history and art, as well as a roof-top butterfly habitat. The square also offers a variety of restaurants, many of which have outdoor seating where you can dine with your four-legged friends. And, if you’re pooch gets thirsty, there’s a convenient doggy water fountain!
