While River’s Edge is near the Wisconsin River, you can’t see it while you’re dining. But that’s O.K. The rural setting is a nice break from the neon lights of the Dells.
And the restaurant’s woodsy decor is fun. It includes a 100-year-old oak, which the bar was built around, plus a 4,000-gallon aquarium filled with local fish. Look around for some of the cute carvings, too.
The food is good, but informal. Think sandwiches, salads, broasted chicken, steaks and seafood. Locals love to come for the Friday night fish fry; the deep-fried cheese curds are pretty good as well.
If you come in on your birthday, you get your age percentage taken off the bill. So if you’re 42, you get 42% off the bill. Pretty sweet.
