Fabio Picchi, one of Tuscany’s best known creative chefs, has built a tiny empire on this street, including the adjacent Trattoria Cibrèo.

Where the Trattoria is known for long waits and a jam-packed, informal dining room (with, incidentally, some of the same menu items served in the Ristorante at unabashedly reduced prices), Ristorante Cibrèo is known for its elegance and foodie bragging rights. It’s a special occasion place for most people, and deservedly so. There’s no English on the phrasebook-defeating menu, but servers are happy to discuss your meal and make (spot on) food recommendations, including pairings from the extensive wine list.

Unlike next door, reservations are taken here, but it’s still best to plan as far in advance as possible.
