A visit to Quidi Vidi Brewing Company, on the waterfront in the St. John’s fishing community of Quidi Vidi, is a must for lovers of craft beer. The oldest and largest craft brewery in Newfoundland and Labrador produces seven ales and lagers plus seasonal brews that have been recognized with numerous national and international awards. One unique beer is made from water that has been locked up in glaciers for thousands of years which hive off the Greenland ice sheet and appear off the Newfoundland coast every year as icebergs.
Quidi Vidi Brewing Co. offers two types of tastings. If you enjoy learning how the beer is made, particularly the iceberg brew, then a five beer tasting with a tour is the ticket. If you’re just interested in the beer, then a six beer tasting with no tour is the better choice. The Iceberg Beer is so popular it can only be purchased at the brewery. The tour dates vary and are very popular so calling ahead for times and a reservation is advisable.
