Prospect Park is more and more like a self-sustaining ecosystem. It might even be possible to forage for your dinner, but that’s technically illegal and requires serious know-how and safety precautions. Here are some sanctioned food options inside the park, ranging from basic to elaborate:

Bluestone Cafe at the LeFrak Center: A casual menu plus indoor and outdoor seating, open seven days, year-round

DIY BBQ spots: If you had any doubts that Prospect Park is way more awesome that Manhattan’s Central Park, the Brooklyn park’s barbecues-allowed policy should settle the score. Bring your own portable grill, charcoal, and groceries–and be sure to follow the rules and stay within one of the designated grilling zones.
Parade Grounds Snack Bar: Hamburgers, hot dogs, and other usual suspects on weekends only during the warmer months

Smogasburg: This is worshipping at the high altar of street food, every Sunday from April to October.

Tip of the Tongue at the Picnic House: Upscale portable snacks on weekends only
