Siam Paragon and Central World are good places to catch a movie and dig into some dim sum at Crystal Jade or sushi at the Isetan deli, but some of the clothes can be expensive. If you’re not earning a six-figure salary or married to a sultan, your shopping sprees in these malls will come to an end sooner or later.
Take a ten-minute walk up Ratchadamri Road to Pratunam Market, though, and the clothes are as cheap as they are plentiful. Your acquiring may never end. It’s a digger’s delight down the little footpaths and on the main streets. There’s also a fun showgirl section where women are sewing new costumes on site among a sea of sequins.
