This year-round professional resident theatre offers six shows a year – a good balance of plays and musicals. The annual Christmas production – A Territorial Christmas – sells out every year as theatre-goers make this a Christmas tradition.
The Pollard Theatre company performs in a historic 1901 structure that was originally a furniture store. In 1919 the owner turned it into a vaudeville and silent movie house. As motion pictures evolved, the stage was reduced and it became a conventional movie theatre.
It eventually returned to a live entertainment venue and became the home of the present theatre company in 1987. Since then it’s been a staple on the Oklahoma theatre scene.
Production goes on all year with each show running approximately three weeks with about a month in between as new productions are prepared. Shows are generally Thursday through Saturday evenings with a Sunday matinee.
