Poeh Cultural Center

Preserving traditions of the Pueblo of Pojoaque

This cultural center is more than a museum to the Pueblo of Pojoaque (Po’su wae geh), one of the Tewa-speaking tribes of northern New Mexico. It is a hub for traditional arts—such as moccasin making and pottery—and language. Visitors can learn about the pueblo’s history through dioramas that tell the tribe’s origin story and rotating exhibits devoted to art, traditional regalia, and other topics. Beginning in fall 2016, the Coming Home Project ushers in the return of traditional objects, such as pottery, that were removed from the pueblo in the past; the items will be on long term loan from the Smithsonian system.
