Podolico Cows are a special breed of cattle found mainly on the Gargano Promontory. You see these cows in many places, especially in the National Park of the Gargano and Foresta Umbra. They are free-ranging and their milk is used to make Caciocavallo Podolico cheese, a specialty of the Gargano.
You’ll find Caciocavallo Podolico in many shops and as part of an assorted antipasto plate in Gargano restaurants. Good places to try the cheese are La Caravella Ristorante in Monte Sant’Angelo or Cantina il Trapetto in Vico Garganico.
