Piedmont Park is where to escape if you want green space in Atlanta. Atlanta’s answer to New York’s Central Park, it has been the city’s “Common Ground” since 1904.
There is something for everyone here among the almost 200 aces of lawns, lakes and woods. There are playgrounds, ball fields, tennis and Bocci courts, as well as picnic areas. There is even a dog park for your pooch to socialize.
Piedmont Park plays host to a variety of Atlanta festivals such as the Dogwood Festival and Gay Pride. In early summer, you can watch a movie here with Screen on the Green. It’s also the finishing line for the Peachtree Road Race each July 4th.
