When it’s time for some Eastern Shore comfort food, stop by the Penguin Diner. Using locally-sourced products (from farmers and fishermen) when possible, the beef is grass fed and no antibiotics. The turkey, chicken, and ham are no antibiotics, all vegetarian diet, and no hormones or steroids. The major exceptions to the local sourcing are Vermont maple syrup and Cabot cheddar cheese. The diner is family-friendly and you can come in your flip-flops. House-made chips, gluten-free options (vegetable oil, not peanut oil), and a bar that opens at 11 a.m. mean they cater to almost everyone who has a food allergen or dietary preference. The diner is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily during off season and later on weekends during the summer. The fish tacos feature the catch of the day.
