Set in the middle of the jungle, some ten minutes up a track from the beach, this hidden island retreat has become somewhat legendary. It’s founder, an American military escapee named Wally, was larger than life, famed for his travel stories and hospitality, and Paradise Lost brought back returnees year after year for its family charm. Sadly, Wally passed away in 2015, but his wife has continued running the resort, and it remains one of Thailand’s best hidden escapes. On an island where good food is hard to come by, the restaurant here excels, and nobody minds the short walk in from the beach, as it gives the resort all the more lost and private feel.
