Find something a little different at Otium Cellars where Austrian and German varietals are grown along side many of the more common French grapes.
Located just outside Purcellville, Otium Cellars opened in late 2011 on property that was originally a horse farm. There are still horses on the property and it certainly retains that vibe. Nevertheless, viticulture and wine production are the first order of business.
The owners are from Northern Bavaria and they have imparted that feel on the construction of the tasting room. It is the wine, however, that makes Otium special. In addition to some of the typical French grapes, some unusual varietals have been added to the mix. Dornfelder, Lemberger and Gruner Veltliner are just a few.
Later weekend hours make this a nice happy hour spot and live music is offered every other Friday from 5-8.
