This 40-foot cascade in a Wailua residential area might seem out of place among the large houses. However, this waterway used to be one of Kaua’i’s most sacred corridors.
Now the falls are a hot tourist attraction. Often tour buses crowd the parking lot and the closest you can (and should) get is the gated path along the road. In 2006, two hikers died trying to access the falls. Please do not hike down here; this is not a trailhead and can be very dangerous.
