This environmentally and socially conscious bed and breakfast is also one of the coziest places in town. The family who runs it has owned the property here for seven generations, and five years ago they decided to open Old Capitol Bike Inn (formerly Old Bangkok Inn), with a total of ten rooms with antiques, Thai silks, and repurposed golden teak furniture and fixtures. But there are modern conveniences too, like satellite television and a computer with Internet in each room.
The shower heads and toilets here are all designed to save water, and all hot water comes from solar panels. Old Bangkok Inn also has an interesting program where guests are encouraged to donate one dollar a day, and they match it. The money is then given to organizations like The Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand.
A really fun bonus are the nightly bike tours they offer for free to the guests. This is a fun and unique way to see the old city center Rattanakosin.
